The Virgin Mary stands on top of a globe, stepping on a snake. Strangely she has wings like an angel. This statue was based on a sculpture made by Bernardo de Legarda in 1734, the famous "Virgen de Quito" that now decorates the main altar at the Church of St. Francisco.
